What happens during marriage counseling with Dr. Wyatt?

When couples first come in for counseling they are in desperate need for help, which is why they reached out for support. However, starting with a weekly 45-minute appointment is a poor match for the urgency couples feel because progress with weekly sessions is often slow. That's why Dr. Wyatt only provides full day intensives for couples to have concentrated time to make significant progress upfront when they need it most. The concentrated time gives couples an opportunity to work through their core resentments. When you have active resentments nothing else goes well in a relationship. It's hard to feel like friends and have intimacy with someone you resent. Therefore, healing resentments is the first step to improving your relationship and Dr. Wyatt's full day intensive can help you get there! His intensives are on Fridays and Sundays from 8:30am-4pm MST. Fridays are virtual and Sundays are live at his Boulder office or virtual. The intensive is equal to two months of couples therapy in one day! The cost for the full day intensive is $2400 and the fee can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement. Most insurance reimburses around 50% for seeing someone out of network but you would need to confirm with your insurance. Some couples have also used their HSA or Flexible Spending Account.

He has a Master's and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Colorado. He has been in private practice since 2004 and has been married since 1999. You will meet with Dr. Wyatt from 8:30am-4:00pm MST with breaks throughout the day. The intensives are available virtual on Fridays or live in his Boulder office or virtual on Sundays. The focus of the entire day is to help you resolve your top resentments in your relationship.

What do we do to prepare for the intensive? This is included in the confirmation email you'll receive after booking your intensive. The preparation includes filling out intake forms, listening to two 10-minute podcast episodes, and reading an article, which combined will take around an hour, give or take.

What type of results can we expect from the intensive? This depends on how teachable the couple is but most experience significant breakthroughs on core issues and resentments in their relationship. Therefore, they often feel closer, more understood, and more hopeful about their relationship after the intensive.

What are the lunch options during the day? Dr. Wyatt's office is right off Pearl St so there are several places to choose from within walking distance.

What should couples do after the intensive? It's recommended to do something fun together after the intensive and perhaps spend the night at a local hotel to maximize your quality time together.

What is the cancellation policy for the intensive? You can receive a full refund at any time after booking unless you cancel within 24 hours of the intensive.
