"It was a great time for us as a couple and the speaker hit on all the points we really needed to address. This couples retreat in Wisconsin gave us time to sit down together, outside of our home, away from the distractions and talk about important issues that we had been putting off because we could never seem to find time to talk about them. We both realize now how little we prioritized our marriage and each other and that we need to change that." M.C.- previous attendant
What does the couples retreat in Wisconsin cover?
1-Establishing a Covenant Foundation
Approaching your marriage as a long term commitment fosters greater security. It also provides an opportunity to be refined into a better person and partner. Learning to view marriage as a covenant is counter cultural!
2-Owning Your Brokenness
Marriage is made up of two imperfect people pointing the finger at their partner's shortcomings rather than owning their own. This step helps both partners identify their own weaknesses and how they are contributing to the problems in their relationship.
3-Learning to Share Power
If you're naturally passive you may need to learn to become more vocal. If you're naturally controlling you may need to learn to become more passive. Sharing power occurs when both partners learn to compromise so both have an equal voice.
4-Developing Emotional Attachment
The first step in developing emotional attachment is working through resentments. You can't feel close to your partner if you have unhealed resentments toward them. Only once the resentment is resolved can closeness and attachment develop.
5-Cultivating Sexual Fireworks
You probably think about sex all the time or you probably rarely think about it, depending on if you are the high or low libido partner. Developing a healthy sex life where both partners feel honored and satisfied is key.
6-Staying in Love
Learning how to fall in love and stay in love is the capstone to all the steps. Developing and sustaining an "in love" marriage is the ultimate goal for all couples and this step will show you the path to get there!
"I loved all the practical application tools. I also appreciated how Dr. Wyatt took time to round during the breakout sessions to touch base!" W.A. - previous attendant
