What does the couples retreat in Ohio cover?
1-Establishing a Covenant Foundation
If you want your marriage to last, you have to view it as a long-term commitment that will be filled with seasons of wonderful feelings and seasons of negative feelings. Marriage is not for the faint of heart. It requires determination, grit, and hard work.
2-Owning Your Brokenness
Whether you realize it or not, you're not a perfect partner and you already know your partner isn't perfect. Both of your imperfections weren't created from your relationship but were brought into it from previous wounds in your lives. Learning what those wounds are and improving them is key.
3-Learning to Share Power
Some partners enter marriage too controlling and others enter marriage too passive. Both bents are toxic. Healthy marriages are made up of two partners who have learned to share power and the art of compromise.
4-Developing Emotional Attachment
It's hard to love someone you resent. Therefore, before you can start feeling close with your partner you must work through all areas of resentment. This step will train you on concrete steps to do so.
5-Cultivating Sexual Fireworks
Regular sexual activity is vital to the health of a marriage. However, many couples have sexual problems because of emotional distance, differences in libido, and previous sexual trauma. Learning how to sift through these impasses and develop a satisfying sex life for both partners is key.
6-Staying in Love
Falling in love is natural but staying in love long term often isn't. This step takes the mystery out of falling in love so you can replicate it throughout your marriage. Couples in love experience all the benefits intended for marriage.
