Florida is known for several things that make it unique. For starters, it tends to be the retirement capital of the US because of it's mild, warm weather year round. It's also the flattest state and the fishing capital of the U.S. Florida is also well known for it's oranges and alligators. In addition, Miami is the only American city founded by a woman and Florida is home to the incredible Disney World and Cape Canaveral. Finally, Florida is an incredible place to live because of the people. Floridians are kind and respectful and truly enjoy the outdoors.

What does the couples retreat in Florida cover?
1-Establishing a Covenant Foundation
Learning to view marriage as a long-term commitment has several advantages. First, it creates security because both partners know the other is in it for the long-haul and security leads to greater vulnerability and sexual intimacy. Second, having a long-term perspective on marriage provides opportunity for you to be refined through the challenges you'll face in your relationship. Jumping from relationship to relationship shortchanges your opportunity for development.
2-Owning Our Brokenness
No one is perfect. We all have shortcomings, weaknesses, and areas of brokenness. Both partners bring their unique set of shortcomings into their marriage and then they create vicious cycles with one another. Therefore, part of having a healthy relationship includes both partners learning to take ownership for their part, their brokenness. When couples learn to own their brokenness they add humility to the marriage.
3-Learning to Share Power
Sharing power means both partners have an equal voice in the relationship on all decisions big and small. When that occurs, couples are happy. When that doesn't occur, couples are unhappy. No one likes to feel voiceless. Therefore, this step trains couples on how to share power, how to treat their partner as an equal, and how to ensure both are open to influence from one other.
4-Developing Emotional Attachment
Developing emotional attachment refers to being emotionally connected to your partner. Some of us naturally do this because we had secure attachments growing up. However, others of us had insecure attachments growing up so learning how to securely attach to our partner in marriage can be tricky. Regardless of your background, this step helps couples work through barriers to emotional intimacy to develop a best friendship in their marriage.
5-Cultivating Sexual Fireworks
Most couples have sexual fireworks in the early stages of their relationship but after time the fire goes out. This may be fine for low libido partners but can be devastating for high libido partners. Therefore, this step concentrates on common causes for the fire going out and practical steps to re-ignite it. Obligation sex is a killer but is often the norm in marriage.
6-Staying In Love
This is the step that ties it all together. You will learn the top things to start doing and stop doing to make your partner fall back in love with you and stay in love with you. You'll leave this step with a practical tool that can be continued for the duration of your relationship to optimize your happiness together.
"The interaction was great, it provided a good balance of lecture and application. Also, the personality test was helpful." B.A. -previous attendant
